"2026 has started very well in terms of tourism"
Maya Omiadze, head of the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, positively evaluates the course of the 2026 winter tourist season. As Maya Omiadze notes, according to information received from accommodation facilities and tourist companies, tourist flows and hotel reservations have increased both at winter resorts and at other tourist locations in the country.
Maya Omiadze emphasizes that the tourism sector has started actively, however, in order to attract even more travelers, including the high-spending segment, the National Tourism Administration will conduct large-scale campaigns on target markets this year.
"The year 2026 has started positively for our country from the point of view of tourism - we have a lot of travelers in the winter season, both mountain resorts and other places, including the capital, are full of reservations. We were in Svaneti a few days ago, and I want to note that there are many international travelers in Mestia. Last year was very We closed on a high note with record figures in terms of revenues and tourist visits. According to our forecast, the current year will also be very successful both in terms of revenue and international travel. For this, this year we have large-scale plans in terms of marketing campaigns not only for the target, but also for new markets. At the same time, we are going to try our strength together with the private sector", said Maya Omiadze.
In 2025, a record number of tourist visits was recorded in Georgia and reached a historical maximum of 5,521,866 visits, the growth is +8.4% higher than in 2024.
Last year, 7,803,239 international travelers visited Georgia, which is +5.9% more than in 2024. 2025 was also a record-breaking year for the tourism industry in terms of revenue – last year, travel (tourism) revenue grew by 6.0% year-on-year to $4,690.2 million. amounted to dollars.
