"Our guides are losing their jobs, so it is important that the state creates what it promised us" - Keti Meladze
The very fact that there are quotas is very good, because there are serious problems in Georgia, because guides from different countries conduct tours in Georgia, and because of this, our guides actually lose their jobs. Therefore, it is important that what was said be implemented as soon as possible before the season starts and the state creates what it promised, - the head of the Association of Guides of Georgia Keti Meladze told "Business Partner".
According to his own assessment, what kind of history foreign guides tell tourists is also not controlled, which is also a problem.
"Georgia is a liberal country, and until now there was no law regarding who would lead the tour - Chinese, Polish, European, or others. Our request was also that the guides should know basic Georgian language. It will also be important that, for example, in the mountains, when the guide takes a tourist - it is necessary to know the Georgian language there, because not everyone knows these foreign languages. I think They say that a guide should know Georgian language at least at the A1 level", says Keti Meladze.
For information, according to the decree of Irakli Kobakhidze, from March 1, foreign citizens without permanent residence will be prohibited from working as couriers, taxi drivers and guides.
