The capacity of Batumi airport will increase by 4 million

TAV Georgia, the operator of Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports, is planning a large-scale expansion of Batumi Airport. As the general manager of the company, Tea Zakaradze, says, in 2025 the airport will serve 1.2 million passengers, while the maximum capacity of the terminal is 1.4 million.

After the expansion, Batumi International Airport will accommodate 4 million passengers.

"We presented the Batumi International Airport expansion project. As you know, the year 2025 was quite successful for the airport - we closed the year with 1.2 million passengers. The capacity of the terminal is 1.4 million, therefore, the expansion works need to be started immediately.

The project will help us to implement more correct planning and allow us to make the best airport together with the state - to expand the existing terminal and build a new terminal. There is an opportunity for this in Batumi, and we are ready to make additional investments to increase the capacity of the existing terminal to 4 million Let's increase it to n passengers", Tea Zakaradze says.

We remind you that a few days ago, TAV Georgia, the managing company of Batumi International Airport, presented the airport expansion plan to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

At the working meeting, in which Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, together with Mariam Kvrivishvili, as well as the heads of the Civil Aviation Agency, the Association of Airports and "Sakaeronavigation" participated, they discussed in detail the needs of Batumi International Airport expansion, which is related to the active growth of passenger flow.

According to the conceptual vision presented by the company at the meeting, both the expansion of the existing terminal and the construction of a new terminal are planned. The project also envisages the improvement of other important infrastructure of the airport. The parties agreed that the active work on the Batumi International Airport expansion project will continue.

As mentioned at the meeting, the historical project of "Eagle Hills", which It will be implemented in the Adjara region, it will give Batumi Airport a completely new life - a new center of attraction will be created to make Adjara a four-season tourist destination, which will have a great impact on the operation of the Batumi International Airport, the increase in flights and passenger flow.

It should be noted that 2025 was an unprecedented year for Batumi International Airport, because for the first time in its history, the annual passenger flow at the airport reached a record level of 1,230,200 passengers, which was 29% higher than the data of 2024.
