The aviation industry expects record profits in 2026

According to the updated forecast of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), in 2026 the net profit of the global aviation industry will reach a record mark of 41 billion US dollars. While the sector faces supply chain issues and geopolitical challenges, demand for travel is steadily growing.

IATA forecasts $41 billion in 2026 (compared to a forecast of $39.5 billion in 2025).

For the first time in history, total aviation revenues may exceed $1 trillion.

According to the forecast, 5.2 billion passengers will use air transport in 2026. Seat occupancy is expected to reach a record high of 83.8%.

According to the report, Europe will record the highest net profit ($14 billion), in which the strong performance of Turkish aviation plays a large role. The growth rate is led by the Asia-Pacific region, where demand recovered the fastest.

Despite the optimistic numbers, IATA Director General Willie Walsh, Rev It seems that aviation remains a "low-margin" business. The average profit of airlines for each carried passenger is only 7.90 dollars. It remains a major obstacle for the industry.

The aviation sector has shown remarkable resilience in the post-pandemic period. 2026 will be a year of stabilization and large-scale growth, although airlines will have to increase efficiency in the face of rising operating costs.
