About 2,000 tourism projects are supported by the state

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili took part in the ongoing Hospitality Investment Forum (HIF - Hospitality Investment Forum) in Tbilisi. 

Speaking at the panel discussion held within the forum, Irakli Nadareishvili introduced the dynamics of the development of the tourism industry in Georgia, including the hospitality sector, as well as the ongoing projects for this purpose.

"Tourism is one of the strategic and growing sectors of Georgia's economy. Today, almost 10% of the country's GDP is represented by the tourism sector. It is a very inclusive field in terms of employment. Also, with the mindset of diversifying the business sector - in the tourism industry, we have thousands of micro and small entrepreneurs and at the same time the largest international companies. The range of products and services that tourism provides is also very wide. It is necessary for the industry", said the deputy minister Em.

The Deputy Minister of Economy informed the participants of the forum about the record indicators of the development of the tourism sector and current infrastructure projects. 

"Last year, there were a record 7.8 million international visitors. In 2025, a record figure was also recorded in terms of revenues - 4.7 billion US dollars. It is worth noting that 70% of international visitors are tourists who repeatedly come to our country. The development of infrastructure projects is also important - 1.2 billion US dollars will be invested in the new Tbilisi International Airport, which will be operational from 2031, and approximately It will serve 20 million passengers. We are significantly expanding Kutaisi International Airport, and significant investments are being made in the direction of stimulating direct flights. In 2025, more than 70 airlines were operating on more than 120 air routes," said Irakli Nadareishvili.

The deputy minister also told the participants of the forum He provided information about the business and investment environment in Georgia. 

"In terms of local business development, we have a sharp increase, among them, in total, about 2000 projects are supported by the state, which are related to the hospitality industry and other tourist destinations" - said Irakli Nadareishvili.

"Hospitality Investment Forum Tbilisi 2026" is an important international investment platform - leading hotel brands, investors, local and international developers, representatives of public and private sectors participate in the forum.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia, Revaz Sokhadze, was also present at the forum, who officially opened the 2026 Tbilisi International Hospitality Investment Forum (Hospitality Investment Forum Tbilisi 2026) and addressed the participants.
