May 8 was announced as the National Wine Day in Georgia
According to the decree of the Government of Georgia, May 8 was declared as the National Day of Wine in Georgia.
The wine put in the kvevri according to the traditional Georgian method, recognized by UNESCO as a monument of world intangible cultural heritage, is born in the spring.
The results of the multi-year scientific work carried out within the framework of the state program "Scientific Research and Promotion of Georgian Vine and Wine Culture" showed that wine was produced on the territory of Georgia 8000 years ago and this tradition continues to this day.
As part of the research confirming that Georgia is the homeland of wine, archaeological excavations began in May.
The Georgian National Wine Day, which has a continuous history of 8,000 years, is celebrated on the 8th of May.
