A completely new direction has been added to Tbilisi Airport

Kazakh airline Scat Airlines has started direct flights in the direction of Shymkent-Tbilisi-Shimkent.

The airline flies between Shymkent and Tbilisi twice a week. According to the General Director of the Union of Georgian Airports, Levan Moseshvili, Shymkent is the third Kazakh destination, which at this stage is served from Tbilisi International Airport. 

"From today, a completely new direction - Shymkent - has been added to Tbilisi International Airport. Kazakh airline SCAT Airlines will make direct flights twice a week. This is already the third direct destination of Kazakhstan at the Tbilisi International Airport, which is completed during the winter navigation season, Levan Moseshvili said. 

As for the passenger flow from Kazakhstan, according to the General Director of the Association of Georgian Airports, the passenger flow between the two countries is increasing every year. 

"Compared to the same period last year, we have a 10% increase.   This year, according to the data of 11 months, all AEs of Georgia We served more than 300 thousand passengers in Roport. We hope that the positive dynamics will be maintained and next year we will have even more growing passenger and tourist flows from Kazakhstan, Levan Moseshvili said.

166 passengers used the first flight from Shymkent to Tbilisi International Airport and vice versa. At the inaugural event in connection with the first flight, which was held at the Tbilisi International Airport, it was noted that Kazakhstan is a strategic partner of Georgia and plays an important role for the Middle Corridor in terms of economy and transit-logistics. 

Shymkent is the fifth Kazakh destination to be completed between Georgia and Kazakhstan during the year. Air traffic between the two countries is currently performed by 3 airlines: Air Astana and SCAT Airlines fly from Tbilisi International Airport, and FlyArystan flies direct regular flights from Kutaisi International Airport.
