UNESCO included Georgian wheat culture in the list

UNESCO included "Georgian Wheat Culture: Traditions and Rituals" in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Ministry of Culture disseminates information about this.

According to the agency, the decision was made at the 20th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in New Delhi (Republic of India).

"UNESCO's decision to recognize wheat-related traditions and rituals is an international appreciation of centuries-old work, knowledge and practices of the Georgian people; emphasizing the importance of Georgian endemic species; strengthening the relationship between spiritual and material culture and making a commitment to future generations that the vitality of this "intangible cultural element" will be protected and developed.

The monument of intangible cultural heritage - "Georgian Wheat Culture: Traditions and Rituals" - established by the Government of Georgia No. 98 of March 27, 2024 A category of national importance was defined.

"The nomination submitted by Georgia to the representative list for the protection of the intangible cultural heritage of mankind on March 28, 2024 has successfully passed all the stages of consideration," the information released by the Ministry says.
